Tiger Woods cheats on wife, committed gay couples can't marry

"Hey, it's Tiger," he says in the voicemail. "I need you to do me a huge favor. Can you please take your name off your phone? My wife went through my phone and may be calling you. So if you can, please take your name off that. Just have it as a number on the voicemail. You got to do this for me. Huge. Quickly. Bye."

- Tiger Woods to slut

On the same day another useless, filthy rich celebrity was exposed as a liar and adulterer, the New York Senate voted to deny committed gay and lesbian couples the right to marry. What's wrong with this picture? How many more times are we to be demeaned as an affront to "the sanctitity of marriage" while straight people keep getting divorced at a fifty percent rate and making a mockery of marriage?

Of course Tiger has issued a statement on his website (where else?) that he's examining his failings and how he's not lived up to his standards or some shit. They always say that, backtracking into fake-ass apologies and pretend humility. He's more concerned with his endorsements than he is with reflecting on his character.

And then there are the people saying, Oh, he's only human. Well, motherfuckers, I'm only human, too. My partner's only human. All the devoted, loving gay and lesbian couples I know are only human, but we get treated as if we're not.

I know I said in an earlier post I was going to get away from the same old-same old of marriage equality and LGBT news bits, but damn. The two biggest news stories of the day here were the pompous asslips in the New York Senate standing up for marriage inequality, and another zillionaire sports figure fucking around on his wife. If that's marriage, let 'em keep it.

Marriage is a fucking contract, that's all it is, not some sacred bullshit as organized religions would want you to believe. All I want is that right, to draw up a contract between me and my partner that is valid throughout the United States with the same rights as a married heterosexual couple. If one state draws up a domestic partnership law, let it be valid in all the states. Many things piss me off, one is that, if I drop dead before I collect my social security it goes back into the pot and not one cent goes to my partner. I am in a monogamous relationship since 2001, probably longer than many marriages, and I expect it to last till death do us part. I've contributed almost $50,000 in social security taxes, plus the additional $50,000 that the employer contributed, and that doesn't include the medicare tax amount contributed. Luckly, at this point in my life I have a good insurance policy and some savings, but that might not always be the case. So my partner will get screwed because of the laws on the books. I am sick and tired hearing about more money for education. Shit, we've been throwing money down the education drain for decades and most of the kids are still dumb ass morons.
These celebrities and politician make me sick when they get caught with their pants down and have the audacity to start bawling in public. Fuck 'em. If I live long enough to retire, and by that time hopefully global warming will be in full flower, I am moving to New Hampshire. Even though same-sex marriage was passed only by the legislature, public opinion polls show 55% approve. New Hampshire not New York will be the LGBT Eden. Now all they legislature has to do is pass the medical marijuana bill.

Well said. Personally I don't care if my license says "marriage" on it. I look forlornly to Califorania and Washington State that have comprehensive domestic partnerships (in WA it was even called 'everything but marriage'). Here in New York we've demanded marriage or nothing, and ended up with nothing. We'll likely wait a few more years, and a few more, while pigs and asswipes like Maggie Gallagher and every Catholic bishop in the country crow about the "will of the people." What-fucking-ever. We'd sitll have segregation if it were up to the people. Just give me the basic protections we're entitled to, they can wipe their asses with their marriage licenses.
