RNC Facebook page says interracial marriage a crime (or, First they came for the gay couples . . .)

On the heels of the Louisiana Justice of the Peace who refused to issue a marriage license to an interracial couple, we now have news that the RNC’s Facebook page had the above image on it for six days. The photo shows Obama eating fried chicken and text saying interracial marriage is a crime.

Oh, if only the people could vote! Anyone who thinks that voting to deny marriage equality to gay and lesbian couples would not be extended to interracial couples (and then inter-religion couples, and then the developmentally disabled . . .) if it were up to ‘the people’ is fooling themselves.

All I can say is that the bigots have no business being outraged by this. Not when they’re flocking to voting booths to deny my equality. How does it feel, 'Bishop’ Harry Jackson? How does it feel, ‘Rev.’ Ruben Diaz? If it stings, it’s a familiar sting to those of us you persecute. Time to connect the dots. Accepting one bigotry opens the door to accepting them all.
